Born Arthur Gordon Snow, Jr. (Art) on March 18, 1929 in Meriden, CT, to Canadians Arthur Gordon and Florence Murray (Horton). After growing up in Ingram and Ardmore, PA, Art graduated from Lower Merion high school in Ardmore, PA. Art was briefly a student at Penn State University. He was also in the Army Infantry, was a Marine "air dale", and a naval aviator. While on weekend leave, Art met his wife-to-be, Margaret (Bettie) Killingsworth at a Dude Ranch in Bandera, TX. Art and Bettie were married on January 31, 1953 in Bettie's hometown of Ft. Worth. After flying in the Pacific during the Korean War, Art and Bettie moved to Ohio where Art had a short career in the Insurance business. While in Ohio, Art and Bettie welcomed daughter Laura Lynn (Lynn) in Piqua. After moving to Texas in the mid-1950s, Art began a career in the shoe business. While in Ft. Worth, Art and Bettie welcomed sons Michael Arthur Snow and Douglas Andrew Snow. Art's shoe career took the family to San Antonio where they raised their family. While in San Antonio, Art was the owner of Bar Snow Corp/dba Children's Shoes of Texas for 25 years. Although staying in San Antonio for those 25 years, he and Bettie were somewhat nomads before and after residing in the Alamo City. During his married life he and Bettie were members of 10 different United Methodist Churches. He always said that he was blessed to move so much because he was given the opportunity to make so many lasting and loving friends, and see so much of this great and wonderful country. He wanted everyone to know that it was only through God's grace that he was granted such a full life and loving family. Art is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bettie, daughter Lynn Leischner (wife of Mark Leischner) of Sparta, NC, son Mike (wife Denise) of Mansfield, TX, son Doug of Los Angeles, CA, four grandchildren, Laura Leischner of Harrisonburg, VA, Thomas Leischner (wife Emily) of Philadelphia, PA, Nathan Snow (wife Fran) of Bridgeport, CT, and Merideth Daly (husband Brian) of Richmond, VA.
