DOLORES GAYLE SMALLWOOD, 81, of Brookston, passed from this life Thursday September 8, 2011 in Dallas. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday September 13, 2011 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with Rev. Jed Lowman officiating. Private interment will follow in the Southland Memorial Park of Grand Prairie.
Dolores was born April 29, 1930 in Breckenridge, Texas, a daughter of Edward Hercules and Fay Lorene Albert Forrest. She was a graduate of Phillips High School in Stinnett, where she was an avid basketball player. Her love of sports remained with her throughout her life, and she never tired of watching the Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys. Her love of sports, camping, fishing, her passion for gardening, flowers, and anything outdoors was only exceeded by her deep love for her family. Her greatest joys were the times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Britny Nicole, in 1992.
Dolores is survived by two sons, Eddie Glenn Bailey and wife Nancy, of Richardson and Forrest Eugene Bailey, of Paris; two daughters, Donna Gayle Bailey, of Brookston and Ramona Bailey, of Calvary, Georgia; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; a sister, Ramona Higgins, of Amarillo; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Vic Ressler, Sr., of Paris.
