Gaspar Sanchez Arriaga

January 14, 1951 — August 27, 2012

GASPAR SANCHEZ ARRIAGA, 61, of Paris, passed from this life Monday August 27, 2012 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, following a brief illness. A service in honor and celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday August 30, 2012 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with Pastor Joe McWilliam officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Gaspar was born January 15, 1951 in Mexico City, Mexico, a son of Enrriqueta Arriaga and Eusebio Godines Sanchez. He moved to Texas in 1973, and was the long-time caregiver for Phil Taylor. He was a life-long learner, and had recently graduated from the Heating & Air Conditioning program at Paris Junior College. He was an excellent handyman, and spent many hours managing and caring for his rental properties. Gaspar loved to cook, and to share with family and friends. He loved nature, enjoyed hiking, and the ocean, yet his greatest joys were found in helping others, as demonstrated by his tutoring of Spanish, his volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, and the Downtown Food Pantry. He was dedicated to his Lord, his Church, his family, Bible Study, and the Republican Party.

On February 9, 1995 he married Susan Haynes, in Hugo, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gaspar is survived by his wife Susan; his three loving daughters, Rosalee, Esmeralda and Isabella; seven siblings, Guadalupe, Melchor, Baltazar, Eusebio, Enrriqueta, Alvaro and Alejandro; his father-in-law, T.K. Haynes and wife Zoan; his mother-in-law, Nancy Hensley; and many nieces and nephews.
