Genevieve Solomon

GENEVIEVE SOLOMON, a beautiful soul, dutiful daughter, devoted sister, beloved mother, and cherished grandmother left our sight to be in that of her precious Savior's and to be reunited with her beloved husband Douglas and so many loved ones on Friday April 1, 2011 from her residence in Paris. The family invites you to celebrate her life at a graveside service to be conducted by Starrett Funeral Home Tuesday April 5, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery, with Johnny Tomlinson officiating.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Genevieve was born February 3, 1931 in the Cunningham community of Lamar County a daughter of William Jennings Bryan and Lillian Gooch Ball, and attended Paris High School. She was active in the Joseph Lignon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Scofield Church in Dallas. Among her greatest joys were the revitalization of downtown Paris, and she enjoyed her family's pursuit of the development of the Solomon Building, the former location for their family businesses.

She married Douglas Solomon July 10, 1951 in Durant, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1993.

In addition to Douglas she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, W.M. Ball and Dean Ball.

Survivors include her daughter Sandra Ables and husband Bob, of Paris; a grandson, Matthew Coyle, of Paris; two granddaughters, Sarah Coyle and Suzanna Coyle, both of Paris; two sisters, Rose Marie Stahmann and husband Odine, of New Braunfels and Sue Stallings and husband George, of Paris; a brother, Billy Mack Ball and wife Patsy, of Garland; and by numerous friends and extended family members.

Named as honorary pallbearers are Bryan Thoms, John Bradford, Tracy Stallings, Shane Howard, Tony Stallings, Matt Roberts, and Brad Hutchison.
