GERTRUDE ORLEAN TAYLOR MARSHALL, 91, fell asleep at Paris Regional Medical Center, and awakened in the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday August 18, 2014. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 10:00 a.m. Friday August 22, 2014 at Meadowbrook Gardens, with Rev. Sam Evers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Gertrude was born November 30, 1922 in Minter, a daughter of J.B. and Iva Sanders Taylor. She attended Lamar County schools, and was a longtime member of the Paris Church of God. She spent many years working for the Frank Homer family, and worked as a manager at Sonic Drive-in. She was on the crew reporting for work at the first Sonic in Paris fifty years ago. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F. W. in Paris.
She married Harley Jefferson Braswell, the father of her children, who preceded her in death in 1973. She later married Clemon Marshall, who preceded in death in 1999.
In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by three sons, Bobby Joe Braswell, Gary Don Braswell, and Paul Randall Braswell; and a son-in-law, Buddy Meier.
Gertrude is survived by seven children: Sandra Kay Freeman and husband Curtis, of Paris, Charles Ray Braswell and wife Vicky, of Powderly, Pamela Meier, of Plano, Mary Ann Bell and husband Bradley, of Okinawa, Japan, Cathy Renee Braswell, of Paris, Ricky Dean Braswell and wife Lisa, of Paris, and Harley Britt Braswell, of Paris; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and countless friends.
