HAZEL DRAKE BRILEY, 84, of Paris, passed from this life Thursday June 10, 2010 at the Home Place Assisted Living Center in Paris.
Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 10:00 a.m. Monday June 14, 2010 in the pavilion of Forest Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Moore officiating.
The family will greet friends at the cemetery for one hour prior to the service.
She was born October 24, 1925 in Boswell, Oklahoma, a daughter of Kim Buck and Bertha Mae Walker Drake. She graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1943, then attended East Texas State Teacher's College in Commerce. In 1945 she went to work for UPI in California, then worked for Safeway as an accountant until 1989, when she and her husband moved back to Paris.
She married Frank Gimbel, then later married Douglas Briley. She was preceded in death by her husbands; a sister, Mary Ruth Berry; a brother, Hubert Drake; and by her parents.
Survivors include a son, Frank Gimbel, of Mesquite; a daughter, Suzanne Lynch and husband Mike, of Allen; four grandchildren, Frankie Gimbel, of Garland, Mary Beth Gimbel, of Paris, Shane Walls, of El Centro, CA, and Justin Walls and wife Melanie, of Paris; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Melba Parrish, of Heath, Ann Gooch, of Paris, Helen McDaniel, of Sulphur Springs, and Becky Pridemore, of Paris; and a brother, Richard Drake, of Powderly.
In lieu of ususal remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Forest Chapel Cemetery or The Home Place Assisted Living in the name of Hazel Drake Briley in appreciation for the loving care given to her during her stay.
