Homer Sawyer

HOMER SAWYER, 61, 0f Austin, died at the Veterans Medical Center in Temple on March 3, 2010. Following cremation arrangements by Starrett Funeral Home, a memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday March 7, 2010 at the University Avenue Church of Christ, located at the corner of University Avenue and MLK Boulevard in Austin.

Homer was born March 9, 1948 in Temple, a son of Homer L. and Dorothy Cochrum Sawyer. A graduate of Belton High School, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years Virginia (Jenny) Sawyer; two children, Lee Sawyer and Susan Sawyer, both of Austin; his mother, Dorothy Sawyer Arvin, of Moffat, TX; and two sisters, Nancy Coakley, of Temple and Patsy Quinn and husband Bill, of Lockhart.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to a charity of choice or to the Christian Services Center at University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin.
