IVA MAE ROSS, 79, passed peacefully from this world on January 20, 2013, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She was surrounded by her husband, children, and family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 23, 2013 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with Bro. James Brown, a cherished family friend, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Iva Mae was born March 17, 1933 in the Aiken Grove Community near Clarksville, Texas, to the late William H. "Dock" and Ethel Herrington Brown. She married Willie C. Ross on July 9, 1949 in Clarksville, Texas. She lived in Ft. Worth for many years before moving to Paris in 1976 to be closer to family and the countryside of her youth.
Iva Mae enjoyed homemaking, gardening, canning, and was gifted at writing poetry and composing songs. She loved playing guitar and spending time with family.
The greatest gift she gave her family was unconditional love and support. Iva Mae was gracious, kind, and made the world a better place by touching the lives of those around her. Her faith in the Lord was strong and paved the path for her children to follow.
Mom, you were generous with your love. a perfect example of a tender heart that reflected God's goodness. We know that you are watching over us and we will keep you close in our hearts forever.
Iva Mae was preceded in death by a newborn daughter, Judy Kay Ross, her parents, and brother W.H. Brown, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Willie C. "Bill" Ross; a son, Charles Michael Ross and wife Gayle, of Grandview; daughters, Nancy Brehm and husband Ed of Grandview, Jan Gailey of Burleson, and Tammy Ray and husband Jamie of Arthur City; her grandchildren, Wendy Brehm, Ashley Brehm, Aaron Quisenberry and wife, Mindy, Natalie Garcia and husband, Brian; and great-grandsons Caleb and Ewan Quisenberry.
She is also survived by siblings James Martin Brown and wife, Elizabeth, Bobby Brown and wife, Linda Sue, Donnie Brown and wife, Melba, Joyce Hines and husband Billy Ray, all of Clarksville; Harold Brown and wife, Linda of Blossom; and Evelyn Davidson of Deport. She was also the favorite aunt of many cherished nieces and nephews.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Aaron Quisenberry, Jamie Ray, Anthony Brown, Jimmy Brown, Jerry Brown, Clifton Brown, Kendall Brown, Stephen Brown.
