JIM PUTNAM, 63, of Paris, passed from this life Friday March 14, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 19, 2014 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with Rev. David Darrow officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jim was born January 30, 1951 in Ashdown, Arkansas, a son of James Thomas and Lillian Aldine "Pat" Putnam. He was a graduate of Texarkana schools, then worked in the trucking industry for over forty years, primarily as an owner-operator. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Paris. Jim was a man's man, who enjoyed the outdoors. Whether at drag racing events, water skiing, fishing or hunting, the only thing he enjoyed more was the time spent with his grandson. He lived for the forest. Even when faced with physical illness or impairment, he had a great determination to overcome them and go about his way of life. He never capitulated to weakness, but lived life to its fullest in every situation.
Jim married Marcia Walker on July 16, 1982 in Paris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by one sister, Peggy Veal.
Left to survive and cherish his memory is his wife Marcia; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell Walker and Alix Harper Putnam; his grandson Harper James Putnam; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Paris, 1530 1st St NE, Paris, TX 75460, or to the Central Presbyterian Church, 309 S. Church Street, Paris, TX 75460.
