Jimmie Lee Goodson

JIMMIE LEE McDOWRA GOODSON, 82, of the Tigertown community, passed from this life Monday April 4, 2016 at Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 2:00 p.m. Thursday April 7, 2016 at Tigertown Cemetery with Rev. Harvey Blackshear officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Starrett Funeral Home.

Jimmie was born May 24, 1933 in Clauene, Texas, a daughter of Billy and Ruby McMinn McDowra. She attended Levelland schools, then moved with her family to Lamar County where she graduated from East Lamar High School. After attending Lamar Business College, she spent a career of thirty-four years with Westinghouse/Philips Lighting, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Pattonville Church of Christ. Each spring she would anticipate the arrival of Hummingbirds, and would be among the first to fill their feeders, enjoying their presence as often as possible during their brief stay.

On November 17, 1988 she married Richard Goodson, in Paris.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by four brothers; and four sisters.

Surving to cherish her memory are her husband Richard, of Tigertown; three sons, Myron Goodson, of Paris, Tim Goodson and wife Jan, of Sumner, and Jeff Goodson and wife Frances, of Blossom; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
