LOIS FISHER THIEL,83, of Detroit, Texas, was a dear child of God and He took her home on August 30, 2010. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Saturday September 4, 2010 at the Paris Seventh Day Adventist Church with Chaplain Phil Payne officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The body will lie in repose at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Lois was born in Lebanon, Oregon on April 30, 1927, a daughter of Edward and Lola Woods Fisher. She spent a career as a science teacher in the Richardson Independent School District for over forty years, teaching at North Junior High School. She loved being with family and friends, especially out on the farm. She enjoyed watching bluebirds and hummingbirds, and enjoyed growing a variety of vegetables in her garden, always trying out new things. She was a strong Christian and never spoke an unkind word toward anyone.
She married Raymond John Thiel on Christmas Eve, 1953 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2000. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister, Edna May Sutton.
Survivors include four children, Gregory Thiel, Scott Thiel and wife Lesa, Bonnie Norton and husband Dan, and Dianne Hollon and husband Mark; eight grandchildren, Alice and Jack Thiel, Cassie, Taylor and Trevor Norton, Ashley, Andrew, and Aimee Hollon; three great-grandchildren, Manny, Gunnar and Paige; and by one sister, Jeri Ogborn.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Greg Thiel, Mark Hollon, Andrew Hollon, Dan Norton, Arthur Brown, and J.D. Hale.
