MELVON DUSENBERRY, 81, of Paris, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday February 3, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday February 6, 2010 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with his son, Rev. Brad Dusenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dusenberry was born June 7, 1928 in McAlester, Oklahoma, a son of Ray and Pearl Skelton Dusenberry. He was a graduate of Oklahoma schools, and served his country as a paratrooper during World War II. He retired as a supervisor at Campbell's Soup Co. after many years of dedicated service. He loved his Lord and his family, and was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, and a hard worker, whether at his job or at home. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan and loved OU Football.
He married Edna Rhoades in 1950 in Texarkana, and they shared sixty years together.
Melvon is survived by his loving wife; two sons, Mark Dusenberry and fiancee' Mayra, of Paris and Brad Dusenberry and wife Terri, of Cameron; a daughter, Darla Eadie and husband Wade, of Kilgore; six grandchildren, Shannon Dusenberry, John Dusenberry, Miranda Snowdon, Lea Medders, Casey DeLay, Mallori Baker, Ian Gray and Chad Gray; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary Dusenberry, of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Wayne Tomblin, Bud Keenum, Casey DeLay, Josh Medders, Ian Gray, Chad Gray, and Daniel Baker.
If desired, memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Baptist Church.
