Roger Leon Smith

ROGER L. SMITH, 60, of Roxton, passed from this life on Thursday November 11, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Monday 15, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Roxton, with Rev. Kyle Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the Restland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Roger was born September 4, 1950 in Dallas, a son of Luther L. "Smitty" and Mary L. Martin Smith. He was a graduate of DeSoto High School and attended the University of Texas at Arlington. He was employed as a Courier for Paris Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roxton, and served on the Roxton City Council.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary in 2006.

Survivors include his father, Luther L. "Smitty" Smith, of Roxton; a brother, Ronald E. Smith, of Sulphur Springs; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Named to serve as pallbearers are Michael Bush, Phillip Smith, Jeff Reed, Don Nelson, Mark Martin, and Bruce Martin.
