RUBY CARPENTER SAFFLE, 98, passed from this life on Sunday March 3, 2013 in Paris, Texas. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 2:00 p.m. Thursday March 7, 2013 in the China Spring Cemetery, McLennan County, with Rev. Michael Copeland officiating. A reception will follow at the First Baptist Church of China Spring.
A time of visitation will be held at Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco from 11:00 a.m. to noon, prior to the service.
Mrs. Saffle was Worthy Matron of Walter Baldwin Chapter, the Order of the Eastern Star of Waco, Texas in the mid-seventies. In 2005 she was President of the Berean Bible Club of the First Bible Church. She was a life-long Baptist.
Ruby was born in China Spring on December 8, 1914. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mittie Carpenter; a sister Attie Lee Gilliam; and brothers Coke, Homer and Addis Carpenter.
She is survived by her sons, Jack Saffle and his wife Barbara of Dallas; and Bob Saffle and his wife Judye of Paris. She is also survived by a niece, Becky Lindsey and a nephew, Dale Gilliam, of Waco. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her loving family.
