Sherry Dianne Young
Sherry was received into the Lord's loving arms on May 25, 2021, in Athens, Texas, at the age of 72.
Sherry was born July 20, 1948, in Paris, Texas to J.E. (Brad) Thomas & Ida Mae (Dollins) Thomas. She was of Catholic faith and was a sensitive and loving person admired by all. Sherry resided in Baton Rouge, LA for thirteen years until relocating to the Cedar Creak Lake area in 1983 where she met and married the love of her life, Don Young. They were married on January 12, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada and made Enchanted Oaks, Texas their residence.
Sherry was a vibrant woman who graced us with her southern charm and warmth. She loved her friends and family with her whole heart. Sherry was fun, witty, and delightfully sassy (in all the best ways). She truly had a special magic touch and could decorate anything like no other with her perfectly manicured fingernails! She was especially gifted in Christmas design and home interior decorating. She was the Owner and Operator of Outdoor/Indoor Decor located in Gun Barrel City, Texas since 1995. She made tropical landscape designs into an Art form, transforming ordinary landscapes into one-of-a-kind tropical paradises!
Sherry never met a stranger and would make you feel like you knew her your entire life even after spending just five minutes talking to her. Every person in the world, to her, was a potential friend she just hadn't met yet. Her giving nature and cheerful personality made everyone feel comfortable and welcome in her presence. She loved her dogs and used to spend more time cooking for them than herself! Her smile was contagious, and it filled the room.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, J.E. (Brad) & Ida Mae Thomas.
She is survived by her husband, Don Young of Enchanted Oaks, TX; one daughter, Tamijo Butcher Young of Enchanted Oaks, TX; four grandchildren, Beaux Holley, Kymberly Duckworth, Christina Lazard, and Brant Burel; and one brother, Gary Thomas of Paris, TX. and eleven precious great-grandchildren.
Sherry will be greatly missed and is at peace. Her presence will always be with us as she illuminates the heavens and dances with the Angels through eternity.
