THOMAS P. BUCKNER, 90, of Paris, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday April 21, 2010 at Legend Healthcare Center. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 26, 2010 at Canaanland Church of God with Rev. Russell Mills officiating. Burial with military honors will take place in the DFW National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 27, 2010.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Buckner was born August 20, 1919 in Grandfield, Oklahoma, a son of Sterling Price and Jimmie Sample Buckner. He attended Oklahoma schools, then entered the U.S. Navy, serving his country faithfully until honorably discharged. He was a man of many skills, fluent in the art of metal and woodworking, and was retired from the U.S. Civil Service Commission, having spent his career at Lackland Air Force Base, working as a supervisor of training aids. He loved his Lord and was a faithful member of Canaanland Church of God.
He married Marie Glover on August 26, 1961 in Cleveland, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelley Mohler, and by three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Marie; three daughters, Barbara Wagoner, of Albuquerque, NM, Linda Stephens and husband Stephen, of Avilla, Indiana, and Marsha Albert, of San Antonio; a son, Paul Buckner, of Von Ormy, TX; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Delane Winton, George Fisher, Chris Kennedy, Charles Davidson, Johnny Kelley and Brandy Kelley.
In lieu of usual remembrances memorials may be made to Ministry to Israel, P.O. Box 4431, Cleveland, TN 37320.
