Lifelong McKinney, TX resident, David Clyde "Monk" Sanders, was born on March 28, 1955, to Alma Clyde and Peggy Ruth (Posey) Sanders. He departed his earthly home at the age of 66 in McKinney, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Monk graduated from McKinney High School with the Class of 1973. He married Betty June Horn on May 11, 1974. Monk worked as a Sales Specialist with Westlake ACE for the last 13 years. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed drag racing, music, being outdoors, and especially spending time with his grandkids.
Preceding him in death were his parents, A.C. and Peggy Sanders.
Monk is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Sanders of the home; daughters, Shelly Elsey and husband Chris, and Nicole Thompson and her husband, Aaron; son David Sanders; grandsons Timmothy Elsey and his wife, Megan, Nathaniel Elsey, Seth Thompson, and Trevor Sanders; granddaughters, Sarah Elsey Gilmer and her husband, Sam, Madelyn Elsey, Britney Thompson, Savanah Sanders, and Alyssa Sanders; aunt, Estelle Sanders; cousin, Kay Sanders; aunt and uncle, Susie and Lynn Posey; other relatives and many friends.
Private graveside services will be Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11 a.m., at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas, with Joe Patton officiating.
Pallbearers are: Trevor Sanders, Nathaniel Elsey, Seth Thompson, Timmothy Elsey, Sam Gilmer, David Sanders, Aaron Thompson, and Chris Elsey.
