Juanita Marie Etheridge, 95, formerly of Paris passed away on Wednesday October 7, 2020 in Rockwall.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday October 13, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas under the direction of Roden Pryor Funeral Home.
Juanita was born and raised in Direct, Texas during the great depression. They ate what they grew and had meat from slaughtered livestock. She learned to be honest, hardworking and respectful from her father, Robert Hicks and her grandmother. Juanita worked hard and managed to support her first two sons, Doyle Dean and Burl Ray O’Bannon after divorcing their father. She worked long hours and any shift she could get. Juanita worked restaurants and clubs and met her second husband, Julian P. Etheridge, Sr., who also worked in the restaurants and clubs as a cook and manager. They were married on June 6, 1953, he passed away on November 21, 1969. She was a disciplinarian when the situation required but was a huge supporter in her kid’s lives. Juanita taught her kids that lying was the same as stealing because when you lied to someone you stole their trust and your reputation was damaged. She was a tough negotiator with vendors and people doing work or repairs for her and she was not afraid to stand up for herself to any man or woman. Juanita loved the holidays and made the best fudge, Martha Washington candy, rum balls and peach cobbler. She ruled her kitchen. Always a positive thinker and said she would live to be at least 100 until she contracted Covid. Now Juanita is with Julian, Dean and Butch and all of the relatives lost over the decades. She is gone but will definitely not be forgotten. We all love you mom.
